PAX AM Days is rude, boisterous and impatient, essentially 13 minutes of pop-punk mostly without the pop, a motley crew of short songs locked and loaded for quick direct action. The EP is basically ruled by the rhythm outfield of Joe-and-Andy. As a general rule of thumb, Fall Out Boy has always been a band who changes up their sound and tries something new and different with each album. Reviewed in the United States on August 8, I've recently gotten really into Fall Out Boy, and some time ago discovered this EP, which was released around the same time as their album "Save Rock and Roll"/5(17).

Neither FOB nor Adams has ever been seen as pure punk and so it's not entirely a surprise that the eight-track, minute EP is hardcore punk in form but not in feel. Patrick Stump is too powerful of a singer to seem entirely comfortable with the loud-fast rules of hardcore but something similar could be said of the rest of Fall Out Boy , who prefer colorful, forceful hooks to relentless riffs, and the joy of Pax-Am Days is that it condenses all of that melodicism into a punishing onslaught of rock. Much of the band's excesses are trimmed away -- Pete Wentz 's verbosity is reined in; the overstuffed grandiosity is kept in check -- and what's left are eight songs, all but one less than two minutes, of hooks and cheerful aggression. Fall Out Boy may still not seem like real hardcore punks, but it's fun to hear them pretend as if they were. AllMusic relies heavily on JavaScript. This was a little more grungy and less polished than the Fall Out Boy I prefer, but I really enjoyed having a more freeform release from them where the lyrics were reminiscent of earlier albums. One person found this helpful. Great high-energy punk songs I can't stop listening to. I really love it! The overall energy of the EP is enough to help you kickstart your day or shake off any bad mood you might've found yourself in.

I was personally delighted by the off-the-cuff nature of the record, which is in fact the closest to riffing we've ever heard the band. As a general rule of thumb, Fall Out Boy has always been a band who changes up their sound and tries something new and different with each album.

In a worst-case scenario, you'll end up listening to twelve minutes of music that you'll never have to bother with again.

In the best-case scenario, your friends will hate you for only repeating the same twelve minutes of music whenever you're in the car with them. I'm just egocentric enough to think that this was my fault. But I didn't mean this! I suppose this re-establishes them as a punk band, whereas the previous album established them as a pop band. There's GOT to be a happy medium. But I don't know what this mess is. I bought it because I've been with them this long and I'm a fan and I love them and I want to support them until they find their way again.

But guys Every track since 3 on "Save rock and roll" has missed the mark. Horrible, not that this band had any really solid albums anyway. I find it funny, that this crappy pop punk band, ever got this big. I used to make fun of fall out boy in When pop punk lead by face to face, Nofx, BR, and 's of others. Did fall out boy hear NOFX's please play this song on the radio?

You will be caught off guard if you're a long time fan. This sounds nothing like anything they've ever done. The point of this EP was for them to go crazy and pay homage to the old school punk rock that made them what they are today. You may not like it, you may love it, but these guys sure as hell did this for themselves more than anyone else. Take it or leave it! The pop punk style they grew into that got them their success always had flashes of true punk in it scattered here and there.

Most people missed these flashes altogether. I still love FOB even though they are almost entirely pop now. What they do now doesn't take away what they've done in the past. But if they were able to do this EP in , that shows that punk rock is very much alive in them. If they really wanted to, they can probably pump out a damn respectable true punk rock album!

I love every second of this EP and whenever punk rock starts to become cool again, you can be sure FOB has got something in the chamber for it. This is solid proof of that. I've recently gotten really into Fall Out Boy, and some time ago discovered this EP, which was released around the same time as their album "Save Rock and Roll". In all truth, this was a genuine pleasant surprise from the band. Their usual music is very polished, while this has a very dirty, down to earth sound, which is always a good time.

I like basically any kind of rock so this was easy for me to jump right into and enjoy but if you are a bit more picky with your genres and subgenres I'd suggest sampling the songs before making your choise.

Some like it, some don't; I love it. To tell the truth I'd love to hear more of this from the band sometime in the future. Five stars! See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries.
